Bird Banding in Lafitte Woods Preserve
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will set up mist nets to catch migrating songbirds. They will weigh and measure these birds before releasing them unharmed. You are welcomed to watch.

What: Experienced guides will take you on a birdwatching and native plant tour as a family event. You will learn about the habitat Grand Isle provides for neotropical songbirds and butterflies. You will take a leisurely walk through Grand Isle's unique live oak and hackberry cheniere woods to see warblers, orioles, tanagers, thrushes, buntings, and other neotropical migrant songbirds.
Habitat: Oak-hackberry woods
Possible Sightings: Scarlet Tanager, Painted Bunting, 10 to 15 species of warblers
